And I Join The Kerala Blog Express

I swear that I never had a desire to join the Kerala Blog Express even though I voted for two Indonesian contestants previously, Dina Dua Ransel and Haryadi. Then, last month I got tempted when my friend was trying to poison us to join this annual event by posting and sharing related-topics on Facebook.

Yes, and I signed up myself a couple of weeks ago, but since then I never checked the website until my friend shared this link to me yesterday. Wow, cool.. just being selected as a contestant and my photo appears gracefully among travel bloggers from around the world, well yeah, feeling optimistic then.

constestant

The reason I didn’t have a will to join this because I don’t think I can find massive followers or friends who would vote for me. I’m not that popular and most of my blog readers are silent reader, or non bloggers.

And I looked through the website, and found this part;

  • What are the criteria for selection

    Country of origin, number of votes received, social media reach, quality of the blog and how the blog ranks in search engines will be taken into account. Voting is only one of the criteria. More votes will increase your chance of getting selected.

Okay, Voting is only one of the criteria. Oh, please.. I don’t mind begging for a vote to my friends over social media, and I will be so generous voting them if they asked, but what bug me is, some people are just so serious and might think it’s harassing them, spamming their Facebook message with this kinda note, ‘Hey, good karma if you vote for me, I’d appreciate it.. Thanks!!’

And, not everyone is surrounded by hundreds of sincere friends who would be happy with friend’s achievement.

On the other hand, before I joined this, I had a long debate with a twitter friend who called himself as a professional travel blogger whose opinion as a travel blogger, we shouldn’t compete for a place on our Press Trip. Although number of my vote is not really satisfying,  by far.. and TO BE HONEST, I don’t like voting system for myself since I’m not a president or Prime Minister with solid team, but I think there’s nothing wrong with competing for a place on an event. Hey, not every travel blogger has connection to join certain Press Trips. Some travel bloggers get their Press Trips from word of mouth or having influential friends. So, how about those who don’t have that access. You just want to be invited like an honored guest without struggling to get it, oh come on, it’s like you think you’re a very important person and tourism board MUST know you, or just select the same people different trip. Without giving any chances to those who haven’t got privilege to reach tourism board people.

And I think one paragraph is enough about those who have a serious vendetta against us. SO now..

WHAT IS KERALA BLOG EXPRESS

It’s an annual press trip for travel bloggers or travel writers to win a seat on a two-week road trip around Kerala, South India. As a travel blogger and videographer, it sounds very interesting for me, if I would be SELECTED it would give me the opportunity to shoot great footage in Kerala, and filming a series of travelogue, Kerala, the trip of a lifetime. Or, after the Press Trip, I could publish my Kerala articles to dozen of travel magazines in my country and of course on my blog.

Not only that, a 2,300 km road trip with 29 travel bloggers from 25 countries in a bus for 2 weeks, and we’d get to know one another from being a completely stranger to a friend. How cool is that??

I WOULD SO APPRECIATE YOUR VOTE FOR THE KERALA BLOG EXPRESS 2017.
