Secret Cinema in Singapore

People said; "hang out with local and you'd know the country much better more than any one else or lonely planet guide book." I said,  Not always.. It was on Friday evening, my Mauritian friend brought me to an unordinary cinema in Singapore. The cinema is located in hidden old building not really far from Nicoll Highway MRT. This cinema reminds me of Cinema in Utrecht, the Netherlands, it looks so vintage or retro. The unique thing is, this cinema has a small bar and live music on the weekend or certain days

When I Quit Being a Digital Nomad

I’m back to Singapore since early this year, now not being a digital nomad as I used to since 2011, but working at ‘normal’ time, morning to afternoon. Although I’m back to my routine life and not moving from one place to another anymore, the first six months, I still lived like a nomad, or considered homeless.

The Best Spots to Capture Singapore’s Skyline

Back then in 2005, My friend and I used to be a foreign student in Singapore. On the weekend, we were so lazy to go back home because nobody who greeted us, alone abroad and we just killed the time around Esplanade waiting for sunrise, sleeping on the roof with a million stars. And ten years ago, this futuristic architecture from Marina Bay Sands, Garden By the Bay, Art Science Museum, Helix Bridge, Jubilee Bridge and Singapore Flyer, they never exist until 2009 and 2010.

First World vs. Third World Traveler

As a third world traveler, we are getting used to an endless insult look to our passport at checkpoint and , we can’t tell lie, it leads us to such a big frustration before we start traveling. Ignore the generic slogan from first world travelers who always spread ‘Quit your job, and travel the world’ slogan. Excuse me?? It ain't work for us, this immigration would suspect us as illegal immigrant and drag us to interrogation room. We’d even asked for Bank statement for any visa to enter many countries.

Christmas in the Tropic

Christmas in the Tropic

In 2008, my Swedish and Dutch friends got their culture shock when they experienced Christmas in this country, they’d never seen such an extravagant Christmas tree in Europe as what they saw in Singapore, the place where they embrace this culture for centuries. In the country where Christian is not the majority and this religion almost never be heard in the region not more than 150 years ago.

Halloween Horror Night

Every culture has their own ghost story and as an Asian, I prefer European ghost to Indonesian or Asian ghost. What ?? Are you kidding me?? You like ghost ?? Well, listen to me first !! European ghost, such a Vampire is a good-looking ghost, they dress well with tuxedo, and as a ghost he still has laundry time. Then, where’s the scary thing of it ?? Majority of Asian ghosts are like Zombie, full of blood, incomplete body, or with a hole on her back etc. They don’t have much time to think about fashion unlike Vampire. Yes, today is spooky Halloween’s day!! Let’s talk about it.

A Coffee Addict on The Road

My days must be started with a cup of coffee. Otherwise, It might be a mistake. If I didn’t get a coffee before noon, I’d feel very depresso and wrong. Wherever I go and travel I drink multiple cups of hot coffee everyday. I’d love to taste local coffee. Life is very beautiful every time I sip my coffee, tell me I’m not the only one. I believe my fellow coffee addict around the world can relate to this !!!
